What are your favorite hobbies?
I am a moderately bad fair-weather golfer, I enjoy watching sports, music, playing with my grandchildren and nice quiet walks with my dogs
What advice would you give to new leaders coming into the profession?
We are in a profession where we are blessed to make a difference in someone’s life every day. Treasure that—never forget that, and don’t take it for granted.
What do you hope to achieve as board chair?
I want to see us regain our strong hold in grassroots efforts, engage all members in advocacy. We need to strengthen the foundation of our profession to keep us growing.
Who were/are your mentors and why?
I spent most of the last 17 years working with the absolute best mentors anyone could have— but I think I am still always most influenced by those engaging with those we serve. Seeing how the little makes things have such an impact on a life is inspiration to remember that every change, idea, or initiative starts with that very first step.
