“We are very, very concerned about the upcoming pan-respiratory season,” said Dr. Marcus Plescia, chief medical officer of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), during a media briefing to NBC News on August 9th. ASTHO is an organization representing public health agencies across the country.
The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is encouraging its older adult members to pay high attention this year to the status of respiratory infections, pushing for early vaccinations and cautionary self-care practices to stay healthy over the cold months when infections such as influenza, RSV, and Covid become a higher threat to the well-being of older adults.
